The gate was approved by the homeowners at the May 28, 1995 Annual Meeting to improve park privacy and security, and placed in service on September 19, 1996.
The gate was inadvertently constructed on CalTrans property without permission.
In 2013 few disgruntled residents contacted CalTrans asking the gate be removed.
CalTrans did not object to the gate, but requested to establish an agreement with OFSRA.
However, OFSRA's President refused to discuss or negotiate the matter with CalTrans.
The gate and gate house were subsequently removed and demolition of the foundation and other supporting structures was performed the week of April 19th 2014.
Construction of the new gate site further down the road began the next week.
All traffic entering the park is monitored by a surveillance system.
The gate is opened by:
Remote Control - Remote Controls are available to park homeowners for $55.00 each and service providers at the discretion of the park for $100.00 each.
Card - Gate Cards are available to park homeowners for $35.00 each and service providers at the discretion of the park for $75.00 each.
Entry Code - Temporary Entry Codes are $25.00 each. Temporary Entry Codes are issued for cabin construction or repair and lodge rental events at the discretion of the OFSRA, by sending a request to the OFSRA's e-mail address or leaving a message on the OFSRA's phone. Entry Codes can be revoked at any time without notice at the discretion of OFSRA.
Call Box - Guests may call residents from the call box at the gate house by typing the resident's 3 digit code or by selecting the resident's name from the list and pressing "CALL". The guest may then request the resident open the gate. If the resident agrees, the resident opens the gate by pressing 9 on their telephone, also ending the phone call.
Exiting Traffic - The gate opens automatically for traffic exiting the park.
Cards, Remotes, and Entry Codes must be requested directly by the primary lot owner, and Entry Codes will be issued only to the primary lot owner.
The lot owners' are responsible for all those using Remotes, Cards, and Entry Codes issued to that lot owner.
To request a Remote Control, Card, Entry Code, or change in your listing on the Call Box, such as your name or phone number, send an e-mail to gate@ofsra.org, or leave a message on the phone (209) 396-3097.
E-mail is the preferred method.
Send your check to OFSRA, P.O. Box 293, Mi Wuk Village, CA 95346.
Response time may be greater than one week.
During lot sales or transfers, all Remote Controls and Gate Cards should be given to the new lot owner.
The new lot owner must contact the park and provide the device codes of all devices received.
All devices not reported within 30 days of closing are subject to removal from the system, effectively deactivating them.
If the new lot owner has zero devices in the system, the then upon request, OFSRA will provide up tp two (2) Cards free of charge.
Additional Cards or Remotes Controls can also be purchased upon request.
Lost, stolen, destroyed or otherwise unaccounted for devices can be removed from the system by reporting:
The device number of the device in question if known.
The device numbers of the remaining devices.
If a removed device is later recovered, it can be re-activated.
Device numbers can be identified as follows:
Cards - The device number is the last five digits listed on the card.
Remotes - The device number is the five digit number on the label. Remotes have two identical labels: One on the back, and a second inside the cover.
Obliterated device numbers - Operate the device in question at the gate six (6) consecutive times, recording the date and time the procedure was performed. Next, within ten (10) days, request a device number recovery by supplying the date and time the procedure was performed to the Gate Operator by sending an e-mail to gate@ofsra.org, or by leaving a message on the phone at (209) 396-3097.
The gate may be opened and left open for the following conditions:
Slippery pavement exists or is likely to exist near or at the gate.
Park hired contractors or service personal are expected.
Emergency personal are expected or present.
Gate service is being performed.
Power failure.
Cards
The system uses proximity cards and a proximity card reader.
To use the proximity cards, simply hold the card within 4 inches of the card reader.
It is usually not necessary to remove the card from most wallets or purses.
Proximity Card
Proximity Card Reader
At the May 2012 OFSRA Board of Directors meeting it was decided that all of the old style “contact” entry cards would be DEACTIVATED ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2012.
The system that supported these cards could not be repaired or replaced if it failed.
These old “contact” cards can be replaced by the newer “proximity” cards at $10.00 for each “proximity” card.
Please mail your old style card(s) and check payable to OFSRA for the new “proximity” card(s).
Send your request and check to OFSRA, P.O. Box 293, Mi Wuk Village, CA 95346
Please see the facsimile of the old “contact” entry card below.

Remote Controls
The transmitter range is 75-100 feet.
To use the remote control, simply press the transmitter button for 2 seconds to send a signal, the red light will light-up.
The transmitter sends a signal for 2 seconds preventing the transmitter from jamming the receiver if the button becomes stuck in the ON position.
When a malfunction is suspected, replace the battery.
This device uses a 12 volt Alkaline battery (Duracell MN21, Rayovac 23A, or equivalent).
The manufacturer of the remote claims that under normal use, this battery should last 12 to 18 months, although practical experiance shows that many of these batteries last in excess of 8 years.
These batteries are available at many places including: Walmart, Lowes, and most hardware stores.
Charles Varvayanis also has these batteries available in the park for $7.50 each.
Contact Charles at charles@varvayanis.com, or (209) 586-3782.
This service is independent from the park.
Battery cross reference: 12 Volt Alkaline battery 1.12" x 0.406" (28.9 mm x 10.3 mm), NEDA 1811A, I.E.C. 3LR50, Duracell MN21, Rayovac 23A, Eveready A23, Energizer AG23, Gold Peak (GP) 23A, Sony 23A, Sanyo 23A, Kodak K23A, Vinnic L1028, Panasonic LRV08, AWI: L01, Varta V23GA, and Renata VR22.
To replace the battery, perform the following steps:
Remove the phillips head screw from the back of the transmitter, then carefully remove the back of the transmitter case.
Remove the old battery.
Install the new battery being sure that the positive (+) and negative (-) ends are positioned correctly. Use only a 12 volt battery (Duracell MN21, Rayovac 23A, or equivalent).
Replace the transmitter back and secure with the phillips head screw. Do not over tighten.

Entry Codes
Lot ownwes may request to purchase a temporary entry code for a period of up to 30 days at a price of $25.00, contingent an explanation of what the entry codes will be used for and BOD approval.
The entry code requests must come directly from the primary lot owner only and will be supplied only to the primary lot owner.
The purchase allows for up to two free 30 day extensions provided those extensions are requested by the primary lot owner.
The BOD reserves the right to deny or rescind the entry code at at any time at its sole discursion without notice.
Gate Administration Notes
Important:
Each card and remote has a unique "device code".
When ordering additional cards or remotes it is important that the first "device code" ordered is one (1) greater than the highest "device code" in an existing series.
This requires special ordering of the devices.
There is no addition charge for this, but it can take 4 to 6 extra weeks for delivery of cards, but causes no delay for transmitters.
Caution: Card seller sometimes offer quicker responce time if devices are purchsed out of sequence.
DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP!
We have all 10 of the available 10 device ranges in use in the software.
Once the devices arrive, in the Door King "Remote Account Manager" adjust the "Device Associations" to include the new devices in the "Device Enable" section of "System Information".
The reason for this and how to program it is described below.
Software Version 6.5a of the "Remote Account Manager" allows for ten (10) ranges or "sieres" of cards and transmitters.
As of 8/5/2024 nine (9) of these ten (10) ranges are in use.
To program: Open the Door King "Remote Account Manager" and go to "System Information", then go to "Device Enable".
The "Device Enable/Device Association" is used to differentiate between transmitters and proximity cards in the "Residents" screen (T or P) and in reports.
If additional ranges are required and the system is out of ranges, some of the existing ranges can be merged, causing holes within the merged range(s).
Additional and proprietary information can be found in the gate section of park's electronic document storage systems.
See the most current version of "Gate Notes – MM-DD-YYYY.txt".
The gate hinge bearings include grease fittings.
These bearings should be lubricated quarterly or ideally more often.
The DC openers open the gate in the event of a power failure.
The batteries in the DC openers inside the gate operators have a life expectancy of two (2) years at max in this environment.
These batteries should be replaced at regular two (2) year intervals at least, however anually replacement would best ensure the gates open during power failures.
It is best to replace the batteries prior to the onset of winter, when they are needed the most.
The minimum replacement schedule is: 9/2024, 9/2026, 9/2028, 9/2030, 9/2032, etc., but as noted above, anually would be best.
The battery is a 12 Volt 7 Amp Hour Lead Acid Gel Cell with F2, 0.250” or 1/4" Fast-on (slide on) terminals.
CAUTION: Most 12 Volt 7 Amp Hour Lead Acid Gel Cell batteries sold have F1, 0.187" or 3/16" Fast-on (slide on) terminals which are too small.
In our application, the gate operators have a life expectancy of about ten (10) to twenty (20) years.
The "Gate Reserve Fund" should be funded and maintained to accommodate this expected expense.
The gate operators were replaced 1/2008 due to wear and damage from a lightning strike.
