California and Tuolumne County Codes require house number signs.
Buildings shall have approved address numbers, building numbers or approved building identification placed in a position that is plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property.
These numbers shall contrast with theirbackground.
Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabetical letters.
Numbers shall be a minimum of 4 inches (102 mm) high with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch (12.7 mm).

House numbering shall be provided to help firefighters and other emergency workers locate your home in case of an emergency.
House numbering shall be reflecting and be of a color that contrasts with the background.
Houses farther than 50 feet from the road shall also have the number posted at thebeginning of the driveway.
