Garbage, Trash, and Hazardous Waste Disposal

Garbage Dumpster

Odd Fellows Sierra Recreation Association furnishes a dumpster for use by the residents and guests of the I.O.O.F. Sierra Camp Subdivision.

Please break down all boxes and crush crushable items to save space in the dumpster. This will save us money on pickup charges. We pay for each pickup plus weight.

Garbage Dumpster Rules & Fines: The dumpster is provided by Waste Management (Cal Sierra). Below is Cal Sierra/Waste Management Franchise Agreement:

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Laws adopted since 2000 created California's "Universal Waste Rule" that changes how common household wastes that may contain hazardous materials are managed. The Universal Waste Rule bans the landfilling of common household products that were commonly thrown out with the household garbage because they are now considered hazardous. Examples of Universal Waste include: paint, motor oil and filters, antifreeze, consumer electronic devices, batteries, fluorescent light tubes including Compact fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), major appliances, mercury switches, and nonempty aerosol cans among others. These wastes contain hazardous components that may be released when the material is crushed or compacted. In addition, the rule requires that these materials be processed to remove the hazardous components and recycled. The "Universal Waste Rule" went into effect on February 9, 2006. These wastes contain hazardous components that may be released when the material is crushed or compacted.

Most of the items mentioned above except major appliances and nonempty aerosol cans can be disposed of free of charge at the Waste Management / Cal Sierra Transfer Station / Cal Sierra Transfer Station, 19309 Industrial Dr, Sonora CA, (209) 536-1719. The County of Tuolumne charges a $4.00 gate fee. There is a fee for major appliances. Hours of Operation: 7 days 8:00 am - 4:45 pm (except Christmas & New Years).
